A SMART GOAL to Get Your Year in Gear!

As a business owner, I found that keeping things clear and simple is the best way to tackle even my most lofty goals. That’s why it’s really not surprising that one of our simplest blogs is one of the most popular we have written.  Our “S.M.A.R.T GOALS” blog still brings in many hits to our website. It’s a brief post explaining an easy acronym for the smart goals system of staying on track with your goals.

If you Google “SMART GOALS”, you will find many explanations and theories on how to stay on track with goals using this thouGet Your Year in Gear a coaching program ght pattern. Of all the five steps, the “A”, I believe, is the most important, and, the one that separates most business leaders.  Most people who use Smart goals think of the “A” as standing for “Accountability” or “Action” and I agree.  For example, when I network, I meet so many wonderful business owners; I think to myself, this person is great, why aren’t more people tripping over themselves to work with them?  Then a look deeper and I find that a simple “action” plan is not in place to expand their reach to get the word out to even the customers who are looking for them.

Most owners are pretty honest about their situations; I hear them say things they would like to do, such as “learning to use social media to drive more business” or “forming a strategic alliance to reduce costs”. More often than not, their efforts never seem to materialize.

Could it be because they are not remembering the principals of the “A”?  Wouldn’t it be nice to find a group of people who could help you with “action” and “accountability”?

If you identify with the road blocks I have mentioned, one way to break out of a pattern is to try something new and/or different. With the year just about half over, there is still time to rally and have your best business year ever!

There is a 2 week teleseminar called Get Your Year in Gear! starting on June 18th designed for business owners and C-suite executives to identify and break through your barriers to success and create a simple plan that works for you and your business.

I fully endorse and highly recommend this simple and “to the point” group-coaching program produced by Online Marketing Muscle.

Here’s how it works…

For 2 consecutive Mondays, starting June 18th at 8PM, a small handful of business professionals will meet via telephone conference for a 90 minute mentoring conversation.

At the end of each session, you will be assigned an accountability partner who will hold you accountable to your desired success, and, who will be held accountable by you for that week.

The best part and what makes this program different than most, is the bonus that each participant will receive a complimentary 1/2 hour private phone consultation to address their specific business building needs with OMM President Dean Mercado.

To me, that’s a simple and clear way to begin to get things done!

Are You Still Working on Your SMART Goals?

When we  wrote our blog Are You Setting SMART Goals for Your Medical Billing Office in 2011? we asked if you had  set your goals for 2011  and gave you some guidelines for setting SMART goals  that are (Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic, Timely).

We had no idea that it would be one of our most popular blogs, but we think we figured out why.

Most of us start the year off with the best of intentions. We set goals and create lists of all the things we intend to do, but somewhere along February, we fall off and forget what we planned.

So we’re checking in with you to see how you’re doing.  We want to expand this beyond the medical billing profession and ask ALL of our business readers to let us know you you’re doing.

  1. Have you taken a look at your profitability to see where your best leads and sales are coming from?
  2. Are you doing what you can to improve the collection rates of your receivables?
  3. Do you stay current with changes in your industry. (For us we’re learning constantly about ICD-10 and ACOs) What’s the buzz in your industry?
  4. How are you doing at streamlining and reducing waste?
  5. Have you given Outsourcing a thought?
  6. What goals can you check off your list?

We’re celebrating our 25th year so we’re turning things upside down and answering these questions ourselves. How about you? Chime in and let us know how you’re doing on your SMART goals!
